What you will do

We are looking for a Data Engineer Principal to join our Big Data & Analytics team and:

• Design scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions on Azure.
• Create architectural blueprints for data pipelines, data warehouses, data lakes, and data lake houses.
• Ensure alignment with organizational standards and industry best practices.
• Independently lead & manage the execution of data engineering projects.
• Collect functional and non-functional requirements, and consider technical environments, business constraints and enterprise organizations.
• Support our clients in executing their Big Data strategies by designing and building operational data platforms: ETL pipelines, data anonymization pipelines, data lakes, near real-time streaming data hubs, web services, training and scoring machine learning models.
• Define data modelling, ETL/ELT strategies, and storage solutions.
• Guide development teams in implementing designed architectures. Mentor and train team members on data solutions and architecture.
• Troubleshoot and quality check work done by team members.
• Work closely with business leaders, data scientists, and analysts to understand requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
• Present technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
• Communicate and interact with clients at the executive level.
• Define and enforce data security, privacy, and compliance protocols in line with industry standards.
• Establish monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms for data solutions.
• Optimize cloud cost management and scalability.
• Stay updated with Azure advancements and implement innovative solutions.
• Conduct regular performance reviews of data platforms and recommend enhancements.
• Collaborate closely with partners, strategy consultants and data scientists in a flat and agile organization where personal initiative is highly valued.
• Share data engineering knowledge by giving technical trainings.

What you will bring

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture, or a related role.
• Experience in managing & leading data engineering/warehousing projects.
• Deep expertise in Azure data services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Data Lake, and Azure SQL.
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, and database design principles.
• Hands-on experience with programming languages such as Python, SQL, or Scala.
• Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise-grade data solutions.
• Strong understanding of data security, governance, and compliance. Data workflows, monitoring, architecture and security.
• Good written and oral communication skills in English language.
• Enterprise data warehousing, business intelligence and ETL principles.
• Candidates should also be proficient in project and senior stakeholder management.
• Good written and oral communication skills in English language.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Microsoft Azure or any equivalent cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Engineer Associate).
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines).
• Distributed data processing.
• Concepts of functional programming.
